If you have an oven, here is the full blown cookie recipe!
OK this is kind of a cookie and kind of a cake. I am still yet to perfect the cookie. The trick to making it more cookie-y is leaving it to cool completely (it goes hard). The problem is I want instant gratification and so just ate it when it was part cookie, part cake. In any case, it tastes great and is a great 5 minute sugar kick!
If you have an oven, here is the full blown cookie recipe! OK chaps. It is the mid-term chill-out week in Cambridge. I have a good friend in Caius College and she asked if we could provide some easy recipes for food in the microwave as they do not have any proper ovens. Outrageous.
So here you go. A nice cake in a cup to start with. The beauty of these is they take no time, are a shot of sweet gorgeousness and you need hardly any ingredients. Check back here tomorrow for the next one! No butter in this - that means it's basically one of your five a day. Super easy. Super good. Welcome to the second instalment of "microwave week"! This is a nice student-y take on a classic. Takes literally a minute - I like it if you don't quite cook the whole thing through so it goes super gloopy. It'll make ya happy!
We have all been there. You are basically at the end of your jar of Nutella or chocolate spread. You are left desperately clawing for the last dregs of the wonder that lies within; because of this, your Nutella experience (yes, that is a thing) is no longer the delight that it should be.
However, fear not, Barking Baking has the solution: Nutella Milk Shots. Simply fill the jar up with milk and, checking there is no foil left on the rim, chuck it in the microwave until it is hot (no lid)! Give it a good shake (lid!) and then serve in your standard student shot glasses. We got 10 shots in total. #wildnight Wow. This is exactly like peach pudding but with tinned mangos instead. Really really good. Super pudding and it only takes about 10 minutes.
I work in a sweet shop from time to time and a guy came in and told me to microwave some smarties as he said the chocolate in the middle melts, but the outer shell stays intact. So I tried it.
I have to say he was right in everything except that the colour of the shell goes a bit. Having said that, it was a properly gungy cake. A winner. Give it a shot. This recipe is so easy and it tastes soooo good! A must! I reckon this will cost less than £1 to make all four mousses (use Tesco/Sainsbury's own chocolate). I used ramekins that were 3 inches across and 1 inch deep. These would be a good dinner party pud or date night thing as it's easy to make but still tastes fab. Maybe serve with raspberries or something if doing for date night #toptip. This recipe comes from the new Crumbs Family Cookbook which my grandmother very kindly got me. I can now confirm that it is fabulous and these went down a treat. The only slight change I made was to add a scoop of chocolate spread because I am obsessed!
Enjoy. Love this. Perfect little pudding, such an easy recipe. It is worth noting that the cake top bit is exactly the same ingredients as the crumble on this Apple Crumble only without the egg... just saying!
Smoothies are awesome. Fact. Healthy. Easy. What is not to like? Give these a go. An amazing recipe.
OK so I was bored and I got experimenting....
Good if you have a cold or just feel like a soothing drink! So here is another great smoothie recipe. We all love smoothies but it is actually quite hard to get something that works. This does. Try it.
This was really good. Very spicy but very good. My aunt suggested it and is a great recipe for a fairly light supper/lunch.
This actually works. I know you are struggling to believe it but it does. Try it. I forgot to take a picture so here is a lovely picture of a beach in Cornwall...
Healthy as always. This was a little more work - have to boil an egg and some pasta! Wooo!
I owe this one to my fantabulous aunt. A nice easy pudding and absolutely delicious. We have been on holiday in Cornwall (wooo go Cornwall!) for a bit - fortunately Hurricane Bertha kind of just grazed our bit so we have still been able to beach and sail and things. There is something about sea air that takes it out of you so it was really nice to sit down and have a proper meal! This is splendid. Try it.
These are brilliant. They are healthy and look fabulous. If you have a big jar, you can eat straight out of it, or alternatively tip it out onto a plate. Such a good idea.
Healthier than ice cream (well, apart from our super fruity ones). Bit of a cheat. Love it. I don't have an ice cream maker here at Durham so this is my work around. Fab.
It has been a hectic weekend but the food production continues. Today we had to rush and get a train as we were off to the Barbican festival where we saw a fab ukulele orchestra!
Thus, this had to be something quick. This was Elena's idea and was nice and refreshing - in this kind of heat you don't actually feel like massive breakfast so this is perfect. Give it a go. My word it is hot at the moment. Don't know what to do with myself.
This is the perfect way to chill out a bit. Get involved. |
